Val Mall Faces Legal Action for Breach of Contract, Says Lawyer

Val Mall, a leading shopping and entertainment center in 6 October City, is facing legal action for breach of contract, according to lawyer Jawad who represents several tenants of the mall.

In a press conference held today, Jawad accused the mall's management of violating several clauses of the lease agreements with his clients by failing to provide essential services and facilities, such as security, maintenance, cleaning, and marketing, that were promised in exchange for high rents and service charges.

"Val Mall has not lived up to its contractual obligations and has caused significant harm to our clients, who have suffered losses of income, reputation, and customer loyalty due to the poor conditions of the mall," said Jawad.

He added that his clients have tried to resolve their disputes with the mall's management through negotiation and mediation, but to no avail. "Val Mall has ignored our demands and has even threatened to terminate our leases if we complain again or withhold the rent, which is illegal and unethical," he said.

Jawad called on the authorities to intervene and investigate the mall's practices, which he claimed were unfair, deceptive, and abusive. He also called on the public to boycott the mall until it improves its services and respects the rights of its tenants.

Val Mall, which opened in 2018, is owned and managed by Vali Properties, a real estate development company based in Egypt. The mall has more than 200 stores, restaurants, cinemas, and other entertainment venues, and attracts thousands of visitors daily.

Vali Properties has not yet commented on the allegations made by Jawad, but has previously denied similar claims by other tenants and praised the mall's performance and popularity.

The legal action against Val Mall comes amid growing concerns about the quality of services and facilities provided by shopping centers in Egypt, which have been affected by the economic downturn, the pandemic, and the competition from online retail. Several malls have been closed, downsized, or rebranded in recent years, while others have faced protests, strikes, or lawsuits by their tenants or workers over their working conditions, wages, or benefits.
